Interview Hints and Tips

One of the best pieces of advice we can give anyone coming for an interview is to remember you’re interviewing us as much as we’re interviewing you. We want people to join us who feel that we’re the perfect match for their talents and ambitions.

Keep it simple

In other words, don’t try to be something or someone you’re not. We like people who tell it like it is. Honesty really is always the best policy.

Show energy and enthusiasm

Even if you’ve had a really tough time in your previous job, try to tell us what positives came out of that experience. Too much negativity and we might start to think you’re just someone who is impossible to please!

It’ll also help if, before your interview, you can think of some examples where you’ve shown your energy and enthusiasm to get over a tricky situation or turn something around very quickly. This is a fast-paced business and, if you’re someone who needs a lot of time to get things done, it might not be the right you.

The need for speed

And talking of the need for speed. Be prepared. Think about what you’d like to get across before you see us and you won’t find yourself rambling or searching for answers to questions. It’s also a good idea to do your research. There’s a lot of information on the website alone, and all of it will help you find out if we’re right for you.

It’s not about trying to catch you out. It’s about showing us you’ve really thought about the job you’re applying for and why you’d like to do it at Iceland.

Whatever your skills, experience, lifestyle needs or career goals, there really is something for everyone at Iceland. If you’re just looking for a local job that offers plenty of flexibility and a fun team to work with, tell us. It’s not the Apprentice. You haven’t got to make out you want to be the CEO.
